December 2022

The grass and weeds have died down due to the frost the past few weeks leaving only dried stems to wave in the winter wind. The armadillo are now much more visible due to the low vegetation but scurry into their hidden holes as soon as they detect any unusual vibration or noise within a short distance.

Winter has befallen the farm and the pasture reflects the change. Notice how the plants have dried out and turned brown. The idea here is to prepare a carpet of fallen material above the grass close to the ground to maintain the solar heat within the dirt during the cold days. There is a latent effect of the heat staying deep in the ground until late in the Winter months before it begins cooling.
